An eight-month leadership development programme helping Active Training Team build more confident, consistent and effective leaders.
Following a period of rapid growth and organisational change, Active Training Team reached an important point in its development. Its leaders were committed, capable and strongly aligned to the organisation’s mission, but several challenges were beginning to affect consistency and performance:
communication varied across teams
decision-making lacked clarity and pace
confidence in handling conflict differed between leaders
psychological safety was inconsistent
leaders could become reactive rather than proactive
ATT was clear that it did not want another traditional leadership training programme. The objective was real behavioural change that would show up in how people led, communicated and performed day to day.
Experiential learning
Workshops used real ATT scenarios so leaders could apply the learning directly to situations they were experiencing.
Evidence-based tools
Lumina Spark, TKI and psychological safety diagnostics created greater self-awareness and provided objective insight.
Application between modules
Pre-work and post-work encouraged leaders to apply learning back in the workplace rather than leaving it in the training room.
Action Learning Sets
Structured peer sessions created reflection, challenge and accountability throughout the programme.
Communication & Influence: Helping leaders communicate with greater clarity, adapt their approach and influence more effectively.
Psychological Safety: Creating environments where people can speak up, contribute ideas, challenge and learn.
Problem Solving & Decision Making: Improving structure, confidence and pace when dealing with complex issues.
Leading Teams for Performance: Strengthening delegation, expectations, motivation and team leadership.
The strongest behavioural improvements were seen in areas that directly affect culture and team performance:
Giving and receiving constructive feedback
Creating psychologically safe environments
Leading and managing change
Delegating effectively and setting clear expectations
Motivating and developing team members
The numbers showed improvement, but the more important shift was in how leaders operated.
More confident and intentional leadership
Leaders became more self-aware, deliberate and aligned in how they led.
Better communication
Conversations became clearer, more direct and more productive.
Stronger psychological safety
Teams spoke up earlier, shared ideas more openly and challenged constructively.
Greater confidence with conflict
Leaders became more willing to lean into difficult conversations rather than avoid them.
Faster, more structured decisions
There was less hesitation, greater clarity and stronger outcomes.
Higher-performing teams
Expectations became clearer, delegation improved and engagement strengthened.
The programme was delivered in partnership with ATT as a sustained leadership journey, not a one-off training event. Content was grounded in the real challenges leaders were facing, with participants expected to learn, reflect, apply and evaluate between modules. Action Learning Sets reinforced the learning by creating space for peer challenge, accountability and practical application back in the workplace.
